Karen joined the firm in 2001, and currently works as the firm’s senior paralegal in charge of the Trust Administration department. Karen also handles probate and Conservatorships. Karen first gained her experience in the legal field while she was in the United States Navy stationed in San Diego, CA. While in service, Karen was an Interior Communications Specialist Second Class (E-5) stationed on board the USS Point Loma, where she was the logroom yeoman for the Chief Engineer. She then transferred to NAS North Island where she trained in the legal department of the Judge Advocate General at COMASW Wingpac and assisted on court martials, and prepared various legal documents for service members. When Karen and her family relocated to Northern California, she continued her legal education at the Skills & Business Education Center in Sacramento, where she earned certificates as a Legal Secretary, Word Processor, Account Clerk/Bookkeeper, General Clerk, and Clerk Typist. Upon completion of her continued education, Karen went to work at the Law Offices of Micheal A. Thompson where she was the Office Manager/Legal Secretary/Paralegal. This firm specialized in criminal defense, personal injury, probate, real estate and contract law. During this time period Karen was active with the Solano County Legal Secretaries Association where she handled their advertising and instructed a civil discovery class. Prior to coming to this firm, Karen worked for Knox Ricksen, which specialized in insurance defense. Karen is also a Notary Public. Karen is happily married to her husband, John, has two children, Kristin and Derek, and grandson Dominic. Karen is very active in our community, having chaired Will C. Wood Grad Nite for the years 2002, 2003, 2006 & 2007. She is active in the Boys Scouts of American Golden Empire Trailblazer District where she is a merit badge counselor, and chartered local Boy Scout Troop 975 and Crew 975 with her husband.
